Palmares Beach House Hotel

Right in the middle of winter, we stayed at Palmares Guest House Hotel and what a stupendous experience we had. This resort and its views and beach access made the middle of wintery January feel like the best vacation spot ever. Yes we had light drizzling rain, yes it was colder temperatures, and yes the ocean water was to cold to take a dip, but somehow, someway, the resort and its location, was one of the most relaxing and soothing experiences that we have had in the longest time. From the moment we checked-in, this boutique hotel felt so calming with its subtle decor and priceless views. Service here was spectacular, the staff were very attentive, and the property was kept in near immaculate condition. Our room had some wine and snacks waiting for us upon our arrival, it had a separate bedroom and living room area. The bathroom/shower was luxurious with a nice strong flow of water from the shower head. Views from the bedroom and living room were extraordinary, the patio was adequate for drinks, dining, or snacks. The room had all the amenities that you would expect in a hotel room. Ocean views were spectacular and the quietness throughout the hotel added that additional touch of uninterrupted peacefulness. We took a walk down to the beach and it was beautiful, even in the cooler and drizzling weather. The hotel offers cart rides to the beach as well, but we preferred to walk and take in all the beauty of the property and surrounding area. Our stay was flawless. Parking was more than adequate, and within a short drive there additional amenities like dining, shopping, and grocery stores. Needless to say, we loved our stay.

Our stay at Palmares can best be described in one word: pampered. From the sprawling view to the aromatic shampoo, conditioner, and cream, everything about the accommodations made us feel pampered. With respect to the pillows, there is room for improvement. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and although the location is set off from the town, Lagos was accessible within 10 minutes by car. We actually went into town and did a full hike at Ponta de Piedade, enjoying the dirt trails over the manicured walkways. The hotel sits on a sprawling golf course and, beyond that, the ocean. It's a beautiful vista, to say the least. The hotel itself is small with, I believe, 20 rooms. The layout of the room is well thought out with an open concept bathroom that circles the front entrance and opens into the bedroom. A tub and vanity remain exposed with private rain shower and water closet. A sliding door can be leveraged to create a barrier between the room and tub/vanity area. The bed faces patio doors that look out onto the golf course and beach. There is also a sitting area with a loveseat. A nice sized patio completes the room. The hotel dining options include the lobby restaurant which overlooks the green. It has a sophisticated yet airy beach vibe. A short five minute walk and there's a club house with another restaurant, and finally a michelin star restaurant. We ate at two of the restaurants and felt the food was okay. Our accommodations included breakfast which, given the location, was convenient. The breakfast was alright but nothing was made to order. Overall I truly enjoyed our pampered stay at Palmares and would highly recommend this hotel. As an added touch, the front staff at reception were very helpful and always greeted us with a smile.

Another reviewer said it best, "A diamond in hiding." What a find. A small 20 room hotel with the service and feel of a high end hotel. We are not golfers, but we loved the spectacular views over the golf course to the ocean. The staff helped us make reservations at local restaurants. Their own restaurant is great, but we wanted some variety. The location is a bit outside of Lagos, but you can walk down to the beach and walk a great boardwalk all the way into Lagos.
